1. Maldivians
The Communications Authority of Maldives (CAM) issue Amateur Radio License based on qualification or Amateur Radio examination done abroad.
2. Foreigners – visiting the Maldives
Amateur Radio Operators visiting the Maldives can apply for a temporary license – valid for 3 months. Please check the link below for details (Communications Authority of Maldives – website).

If you do need help in obtaining a license, please contact us !!
Unfortunately, the Communication Authority doesn’t have a system to accept foreign payments. Some send money in envelopes – which is not safe and at times the amount may vary due to the exchange rate. Others try to settle the payment through the resort/ hotel management – where they plan to stay. Also, PayPal receiving is not available in the Maldives yet.
After discussing these issues with the Authority, we have volunteered to help fellow Amateur Operators visiting the Maldives, to get a license.
Documents needed:
- Application Form (you may give 3 options for call sign (suffix) – write on the side of application)
- Passport copy (data page)
- Amateur Radio License copy (current one)
When you email the documents to Communication Authority, please do copy us and let them know that we will settle the payments for you. Once we receive your documents we will contact the Authority, collect the License and email you a scanned copy. Since the license is valid for 3 months, our suggestion is to send the documents about a month before your departure.
You could print a hard copy or even keep it in your phone to show Airport Customs if needed.
Hope this is helpful and if you need any additional information pls let us know
